Merzouga Rally: Sherco TVS still Top 10 in Stage 4, Santosh 20th
The 233km Stage 4 in the 2018 Afriquia Merzouga Rally caused some problems for the two Indian collaborated outfits riders. Sherco TVS' Joan Pedrero kept the lead position but he dropped a place to ninth overall after he was only 15th in the stage.
The Spaniard crossed CP1 quickest, only to be beaten by teammate Lorenzo Santolino on the RTR 450cc bike, but it seems like the younger Spaniard hasn't crossed the finish line with the live tracker not showing his results beyond CP1.
Pedrero, meanwhile, has a total time of 14hr13m47s, now 46m58s behind rally leader Honda's Joan Barreda, who himself had a scary stiff with Husqvarna's Pablo Quintanilla. With Santolino not to be seen, Martin Diego Duplessis moved into the Top 10 in 10th.
The Argentine was 10th in the stage as well and his total time is 14hr25m50s. The Indo-French outfit's Enduro rider Vanni Cominotto was 36th in the stage and maintained his 24th position overall with a time of 17hr25m20s.
Meanwhile, the Hero MotoSports Rally Team had a difficult run with CS Santosh 37th and Oriol Mena 40th in the stage. The Spaniard thus lost a place to be 17th with a time of 16hr28m23s, but the Indian kept his 20th place with a time of 17hr09m20s.
At the front, the tangle between Barreda and Quintallina allowed Yamaha's Alessandro Botturi to win the stage even though Barreda heads it still. But KTM's Toby Price has taken over second position, with Honda's Kevin Benavides dropping to third with one stage to go.
